Dan Fails to Pass the Dane's Challenge
In the men's singles, world champion Lin Dan failed to take advantage of top seed Lee Chong Wei's absence as he bowed down to Danish veteran Peter Gade. The former world number one was defeated in straight sets, 21-16 and 21-17.
This result was quite shocking since Lin Dan often won against Gade in their previous meetings. In 2010 until now, Lin Dan has not even played in semi-final as he lost to compatriot Bao Chunlai All England quarter-final. All England was Lin Dan's first tournament in 2010.
Gade will compete against Chinese Chen Long in the semi-final. In the other half, third-seeded Chen Jin will take on unseeded Du Pengyu.
